School Sport Unit

Only players nominated by their zone conveners or zone secretary prior to the trial day, will be eligible to attend the Sydney North trials. All students intending to trial need to meet the requirements to play rugby union as per the document 'Sport Safety Guidelines' found at the School Sport Unit website.

The trials will be conducted under the current U12 Pathway, Laws of Rugby, as played in NSW. This will include no lifting in the lineouts, observance of the ARU's 2 year window law and compulsory wearing of mouthguards. No 13 year old players will be allowed to participate. Any participants only turning 10 this year, they will need to attain a dispensation from a level 2 coach (not their own coach) or a development officer in the region. No 10 year old will be allowed to trial in the front row. 

Entry details: zone conveners should email to the Sydney North convener a list of students attending the trials using the general Sydney North trials nomination form one week prior to the trial.

All students attending the trials need to bring the primary rugby league/rugby union permission note and Sydney North trials student permission note to the trials. All students attending Sydney North trials need the permission of their school principal, sports organiser, organising teacher and parent.  All students must also have a signed appendix D form.

Lunch: Students should provide their own lunch and drinks. Canteen facilities are available.

Selection: Students selected in the Sydney North team will compete in the NSWPSSA State Carnival from Tuesday 22 August 2017 to Thursday 24 August 2017 at Newcastle.  All students must be available to play on all 3 days of the championships.
