Sarah Young has had a two decade long involvement as a school sport and community representative in Deniliquin for athletics and other community sports. She has provided hundreds of local young people with coaching support, and encourages her students to participate with enthusiasm and to perform at their personal best.

At Edward PS, Sarah recognises students who display commitment to their sports and those who apply themselves with a positive attitude and good sportsmanship. She consistently ensures their achievements are celebrated and shared with the school and local communities.

Sarah has been the main organiser of a wide variety of sporting activities and challenges for the students of Edward PS during her time there. With activities ranging from innovative fitness programs to endurance running challenges, technical athletics coaching  sessions to aquatic life saving programs, as well as managing Jump Rope for Heart for her school and organising regular weekly sport sessions. Sarah ensures that all students are introduced to a healthy and active lifestyle.

Sarah is a passionate advocate of the NSW Primary School Sports Association and has devoted many years of amazing service as both an administrator and an organiser at local, regional, and state levels. She works to make sure that children from isolated areas of the state have every opportunity to participate and achieve their personal bests in their chosen sports. Her enduring commitment to athletics and cross country coaching, for one sport among many, has seen her inspire many students to outstanding success at zone, state, and national levels.

Sarah Young embodies all that sport stands for: individuals and teams enjoying sport and fitness in both school and community environments. Her service to school sport has been exemplary and at all times she goes above and beyond what would be expected from a teacher in a similar position. Her passion and commitment to sporting education make her a most deserving recipient, worthy of recognition.
