2019 FLORIMO 7’S
Registrations are open for the North Sydney Region Primary School Greg Florimo Shield (Boys Tackle Gala Day) and the Jessica Palmer Shield (Girls Touch Football & Tackle Gala Day) taking place on Tuesday 9th April at Montview Oval, Hornsby Heights 9am – 2pm.
Named after one of the Bears best players, these 7 a-side competitions are aimed at developing Rugby League skills in a safe environment and is suitable for all levels of experience.
It is an ideal event for schools that do not have a large pool of players to select from. Both boy’s divisions are contact and the girls have a touch and tackle division, which is brand new in 2019. Participants do NOT need to be Junior League players to participate. This year will be the fifth year of the event and we hope that it will be bigger and better than the last.
After trailing girls tackle games over the last two years at this event, I believe it fitting that girls tackle teams are included as divisions to choose from. For the first time there will be a junior and senior tackle division for girls. Never before have girls and women had more opportunity in the world of sport and more specifically in Rugby League. Moving forward as a game we want everyone to have an equal opportunity to play Rugby League. Coaching sessions of our brand new TackleSafe program will be on offered for free to any team that needs an introduction into tackle and/or a confidence boost.
