2019 10 week Challenge breaks record registration levels

Thank you to all the schools and DoE offices who have registered for the 10 week Challenge this year. You've helped to make history of the largest participation to date with over 458,000 participants! Of special note are staff and secondary registrations which have increased by 150% and 120% on top of 2018 registrations respectively. Remember you can download and print encouragement or achievement certificates from our website - Four styles to choose from (downloaded from our Resources - 10 week Challenge section).

All other schools need to submit results by early Term 4 to receive them mid Term 4. See our help sheet on Submitting data for certificate printing.

School community members are invited to recognise teacher excellence and outstanding contribution to student outcomes in school sport over an extended period of time by nominating them for the Excellent Service to School Sport award. The Excellent Service to School Sport Award nominations are to be completed by Monday 26.08.2019 (Week 6 Term 3). See our website for the nomination form and more information.

Ambassador visits update

Has your school requested an Ambassador visit for this term? Our Ambassadors can come to your school (anywhere in NSW) and run a small group sports clinic or do an assembly presentation. Recently former Giants Netball and Australian Diamonds shooter Susan Pettitt visited Nowra High School to run a coaching clinic. A special thanks to Australian Chicken Meat Federation for sponsoring our PSC program and helping make these visits to schools possible.

Leadership program update

Thank you to the 71 schools who applied for Sport Leadership grants for this year, all of which will be soon notified as to whether they have been successful. This funding assists schools to engage with local and state sporting associations to promote the development of sport-specific leadership skills in identified secondary sport leaders and also encourage the development of physical literacy and physical activity participation amongst primary students. The Premier’s Sporting Challenge team is looking forward to supporting the successful schools as they facilitate activities with these grant funds throughout 2019/2020.

PSC Medals coming to schools late this term

All schools will receive a PSC Medal in the last week of Term 3, keep an eye out for it in the mail. This medal gives schools an opportunity to acknowledge student commitment and contribution to sport and physical activity programs.

If your school would like to present the medal in Term 3 please contact the PSC team on psc@det.nsw.edu.au and so that it can be sent to you sooner. See our website for more information.
